The
REV 105 RADIO ARCHIVE vol. 1 |
The REV 105 RADIO ARCHIVE - vol. 1 is a 21
track compilation featuring acoustic performances by both local and
national artists. The tracks were recorded in the REV 105 radio studio.
In-studio recordings were a regular and unique feature on REV 105.
If you're not familiar with REV 105, read how the
REV staff describe the station below.
The CD sold in local Twin Cities stores for about $10. A benefit concert was held in the 1st Avenue main room. Tickets cost about $15 dollars, and ticket holders received a free copy of the CD. The CDs were handed out after the concert, in a parking lot directly across 7th street from the 1st Avenue club. In exchange for a concert ticket stub, Rev staff members were distributing the CDs out the back door (the emergency exit door) of the red-and-black REV bus. The album and concert brought great music to REV 105 listeners, but true to the spirit of community embraced by REV 105, all the profits from this album went to support the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. The album is intentionally put together with an amateurish look. I think this reflects the independent spirit and low power transmitters of REV 105. The graphics feature simulated rubber-stamp text on the covers, and what looks like bad photo copies of typewritten text in the liner notes. There are even some handwritten corrections. I've attempted to capture this style by maintaining the accidental UpperCAse just as it appears on the album. The jewel-case booklet is 8 pages. It's one long strip with 4 pages printed on each side and then folded. Below, I've include the complete text printed in the booklet, and on the cover, and CD. This includes liner notes on the production staff, special thanks, and artist credits. I've also included 5 brief samples from the CD. |
